Events in July, 2011
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH FIREARM
2800 Block S. 14th Street
Suspect upset after arguing with family members
Leaves apartment and flees into a common basement
in the building.
Suspect fires several rounds in the basement and flees
Suspect was apprehended by officers on the scene and
arrested.
Case cleared by arrest.
ARMED ROBBERY
5100 Block S. Howell Avenue
Suspect and victim (who used to date) engage in a
verbal argument
Suspect "snatches" cell phone from victim
Suspect strikes victim several times and displays
a handgun in his waistband when victim attempts
to get the cell phone back
Suspect taken into custody
Case cleared by arrest.

Victim exits hotel room and goes into parking lot
to smoke a cigarette
Victim is approached by two unknown black males
One displays handgun, demands and obtains
money
Case pending
1500 Block W. Dakota Street
Victim is walking when approached by suspect
who is on bicycle - suspect asks victim if he would
like to buy the bicycle and victim agrees
Victim takes out money and suspect displays a
knife and demands money
Victim yells for help and suspect flees without
obtaining anything
STRONG ARMED ROBBERY
2600 Block West Oklahoma Ave.
Victim walking in the alley when she alleges she
is approached by an unknown suspect in the alley
who knocked her to the ground and took her
cell phone.
Officer later stops an individual matching the
description of the suspect leaving the residence
of the victim.
Further investigation revealed the story was
untrue and the victim made it up because she
was mad at her boyfriend
Case found to be baseless and citation issued
to victim for obstructing an Officer.
MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT
Total Thefts: 21
Over 52% of these vehicles have already been
recovered (11 of 21).
BURGLARIES
Residential: 13
Garage: 14
Business: 0
Protect Yourself!!
Remember to lock all doors and windows because
many burglaries occur by entry into an unlocked
door (especially garage service doors!!!).
Consider installing motion sensitive lighting (with
bulb out of reach).
Install quality heavy duty deadbolt locks (on home
and garage) and strong metal strike plates.
Make sure you have a sold and strong door and
frame.
Beware: Elderly Scams
Suspects target elderly and claim to provide services
or handle utilities (i.e. roof repair, yard work, WE
Energies, water company, etc.).
Suspects strongly persuade their victims to let them
in their homes or have them exit their residence.
Some wear id cards or carry clip boards.
Vehicles used: Newer model pick-up trucks - white,
black or gray.
Suspects:
White or hispanic males.
30-45 years of age.
5'8" - stocky build.
