Marissa shared with the group the spread sheet that was sent via email recently, showing that crime is down in District 6's areas. She stated that it is probably Milwaukee's safest district to live in.
Marissa reminded people to lock their doors when they are in their yards doing yard work so that burglars do not come in and clean out your houses while you are outside.
She also said to beware of people coming to your door claiming to be from the power company, etc. and wanting to go into the basement to check something out. When you go down in the basement with them, they have another person come in and rob you while you are in the basement.
Marissa also said that she spoke with an Alarm Company that has been canvassing the area. They first initially said they would be in the area for 4 weeks. But this was back in April and they are still here. She informed them, that they were using scare tactics that they shouldn't be using to sell their products.
A person who lives in the neighborhood who attended the meeting was asking about a contracting company who was approaching home owners in the neighborhood to fix hail damage on their homes. They are taking money from the homeowners, (the deductible amount from their insurance) and starting work at a later date. The neighbor was concerned that it may be a scam, but another neighbor who was attending the meeting said that they do complete the work.
The next District 6 Crime Analysis Meeting is Wednesday, 28 September in St Luke's Auditorium.
