Fw: MPD Citizen Academy Class


Everyone,
 
  Chief Flynn has decided that there will be a Citizen Academy Class this year.  The class is scheduled for June 7, 2012.  The class will be held every Thursday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and it is five weeks long.  Some of the topics that you will learn about include: firearms, defense and arrest tactics (DAAT), and include a ride along with a police officer.
 
If you are interested in attending the class you can contact Bertha Bentley at 935-7905 or Bbentl@milwaukee.gov and she will mail you an application.

Areas: S. 8th St to S. 21st St, W. Scott St to W. Orchard Av and S.13th St to S.26th St, W. Lapham St to W. Rogers St.


Message: There has been an increase in entry to vehicles in the last few days in the above listed area. The items that have been taken from this vehicles include cell phones, GPS units, I-Pod's, and purses, which have been left in plain view. Please take the time to remove all property from your vehicle after you park it, or lock it in your trunk, to avoid having your vehicle broken into. Remember that property left in your vehicle increases the chances of an entry into your vehicle.

Message: There has been an increase in burglaries in the last week in the above listed area. It has been happening between the hours of 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Lock your doors and windows when you leave your home. Increase occupancy indicators (e.g., increase exterior and or interior lights, leave your radio or TV on, park your car in the drive way). Please share this information with your neighbors. Help us help you! Please call the non-emergency number at 933-4444 if you notice any suspicious activity in your neighborhood.
